Rotary International Youth Exchange....

The Rotary Club of New Canaan enters the third year of the revival of our longstanding tradition of International Youth Exchange in our effort to promote World Peace and Understanding.

Please join us in welcoming Constantin from Germany as our 2017/2018 International Youth Exchange Student.  Constantin will complete his Junior year at New Canaan High School where he looks forward to meeting many new friends, playing soccer, and getting involved with the school community.  Constantin will spend the first third of his year in New Canaan with our own Lisa Lynn Kirkpatrick and her family!  Hosting an international exchange student is a wonderful way to expand your family's horizons and create a life-long relationship.  If you or anyone you know is interested in potentially hosting a student, please contact Alex Grantcharov at alex.e.grantcharov@gmail.com

We also congratulate Alvaro Riquelme from Linares, Chile, who has just successfully completed his Junior Year at New Canaan High School for the 2016/2017 academic year.  Alvaro played soccer for the Rams and participated in many other activities.  During the school year, Alvaro stayed with three different local host families, beginning with our club's own Ben and Betsy Bilus.

Here a just a few photos from Alvaro's successful year.....

During the 2015/2016 Rotary Year, our club sponsored outgoing International Exchange Students and hosted Incoming International Exchange Students.  Here are just a few photos highlighting this wonderful experience.  Special thanks to club members Anne Cheney, Alex Grantcharov and Cynthia Gorey for their work leading this effort!

The quest for the Golden Putter begins.....

Earlier this year the New Canaan Rotary Club received a Rotary District Matching Grant for an International Service Project to help restore Marine life off the Coast of Bantayan Island in the Philippines through the work of the Young Pioneer Disaster Relief organization.  Check out this video showing the effects of the first underwater 'Marine Domes' set in place to accelerate the growth of new reefs and to provide a protected home for vulnerable marine wildlife.
